FY19 - October Board Meeting
6 to 8 pm, Wednesday, October 17, 2018
Ella Ramsey, President
Ella Ramsey, President
Thank you all for your help with the Garage Sale Pop Up. We appreciated your donations, your volunteer time, and all you did to help promote the event. It was our best Pop Up yet! We were very close to our net goal of $19,000.
This Tuesday, Oct. 16, is Melisa Wahlstrom's last day as our Adult Education Manager. She devoted 10 years to Textile Center, and we are very grateful for all her terrific work during the past decade. She will be missed!
I'm pleased to announce that:
We are currently searching for a Communications Associate and an Adult Education Associate. I've included the postings below.
Our staff always goes above and beyond the call of duty, but 2018 was an exceptional year ... from the Garage Sale blizzard to our Garage Sale Pop Up, from the Fiber is First! breakfast in May to taking on extra duties while I have been focusing on 3300 acquisition. For this reason, I am recommending that the Board approve a one-time paid holiday during the holidays for the staff ... on Wednesday, January 2. (Monday, December 31, and Tuesday, January 1, are paid holidays.) This will give staff a wonderful five-day break as we begin a very busy 2019. The motion is in the agenda below. - Karl Reichert, Executive Director

I'm pleased to announce that:
- Sharon Mulhollam is now our Community Engagement Associate -- to better reflect all the work she does with members, guild leaders, volunteers, donors, and tour patrons.
- Scarlett Larson is now Youth Education Associate. She has taken on more responsibility for education programs, including the contract classes we provide to libraries in the seven country metro area.

3. Discussion about next steps for setting the programming vision for Textile Center - Ella Ramsey & Karl Reichert (6:20 - 6:50 pm)
- While we have been focused lately on the acquisition of 3300, it's time to talk programming. Our National Artist Advisory Council and Architect David Salmela have been holding Friday, Nov. 16, on their calendars for a "3300 closing party." This would be a good time to bring our stakeholders together for a discussion about Textile Center's future ... whether at 3300 or moving on with Plan B. We would like to use this time to have the Board talk about the process moving forward ... so that we are focusing our space needs on programming, rather than having space drive program planning. We would like to discuss ideas about process, and how to best facilitate conversations.
- With this discussion, we want to discuss how we can best celebrate Textile Center's 25th Anniversary.
